American Institute of Architects (AIA) Convention and Design Exposition – Washington, DC | May 17-19, 2012

As AIA members, more than 76,000 licensed architects, emerging professionals and allied partners in design express their commitment to excellence and livability in our nation’s buildings and communities. Members adhere to a code of ethics and professional conduct that assures the client, the public, and colleagues of AIA-member architect’s dedication to the highest standards in professional practice.

LIGHTFAIR® International (LFI) Trade Show & Conference – Las Vegas, NV | May 9-11, 2012

As the world’s largest annual architectural and commercial lighting trade show and conference LFI has a proven track record of bringing top international and domestic architectural, design, engineering and lighting professionals together with exhibitors from around the world. During the conference, information on building integration and retrofitting existing buildings will abound. There will also be opportunities to attend over 200 hours of world-class accredited education and a chance to listen to fascinating keynote speakers. Inside the 200,000 sq. ft. exhibit hall at the Las Vegas Convention Center there will be over 20,000 professionals and nearly 500 of the world’s leading manufacturers.

AAMA Southeast Region 2012 Spring Meeting – Austin, TX | May 8-10, 2012

At this event there will be a tour of the University of Texas Thermal Lab Facility where we you will be shown the University’s new experimental laboratory for conducting research on innovative façade design, glazing, shading, window treatments and other energy-efficient building technologies. The last day will bring Marsh Fernbaugh of Associated Materials into the picture where he will provide updates on Miami-Dade County, IBHS and the recent changes to the Florida Building Code. The meeting will conclude with Rich Walker (AAMA) where he will give updates on AAMA National activities.

AAMA Western Region 2012 Spring Meeting – Portland, OR | April 10-11, 2012

This Spring Meeting is all about Building Information Modeling (BIM). Dennis Neeley of SmartBIM will focus the discussions on fenestration whilst Ken Nittler, P.E. of WESTLab will discuss the changes in the California Building Energy Code. NFRC’s Component Modeling Approach, the perennial economic update from Chapman University, a discussion on the new NAFS-2011 standard and a national update will be given by Rich Walker, AAMA President and CEO.

AAMA 75th Annual Conference – Naples, FL | February 26-29, 2012

AAMA is celebrating its Diamond Anniversary in 2012 so after 75 years in business AAMA is putting together an Awards Banquet. Meetings will be held during the 4-day event which will include a Keynote speech from Eric Greitens. This event will reflect back on AAMA’s accomplishments and look forward to future opportunities.

GreenBuilding Conference & Expo – Sao Paulo, Brazil | August 29-31, 2011

The second edition of the Brazil GreenBuilding Conference & Expo took place on 29th – 31st August, 2011 at the headquarters of Fecomércio in Sao Paulo. At that time, it established itself as the great meeting place of sustainable construction in Brazil. The 3 days event repeated the successful formula adopted at the first show, where participants enjoyed an environment with:
International Conference: In an atmosphere conducive to upgrading, improvement and professional relationship, you were side by side with some of the biggest national and international experts discussing trends and issues most challenging sectors in plenary and concurrent sessions.
Exposure Solutions: In this area, the focus was on business development through the presentation of products, equipment and specialized services, where exhibitors had some space available, especially sized to provide emphasis for the sponsoring brands, respecting the spirit of the green event.
Monitored Visits: Learning in practice - that was the goal for touring options available where you could choose which projects you wanted to learn more about, gathering information about project design and development work, application of new techniques, difficulties and benefits obtained, among others.

The diversity of offerings, from business planning to marketing and business development, from zero net energy design to building codes, were provided to enhance your knowledge of design, practice management, and career development. AIA New Orleans extended the learning opportunities beyond the convention center by hosting a variety of educational tours that explored the soulful flavor of the city’s architecture—from historic and modern, to recently restored. In just four days and in a single location, you were able to earn all of the CEUs you need for 2011.
